Anti-Torture Protest on March 3, 2010 from 8am to 10am.
Our local MP repeats the Conservative talking points on the Afghan detainee controversy and claims that "Canadians need to know that opposition parties are calling into question the conduct of our soldiers overseas".
Among all the issues around the proroguing of parliament, the need for an inquiry into Canada's transfer of detainees into torture is at the top of the list.

There was an impressive turnout.

Many people believe that avoiding an inquiry over the Afghan torture issue is one of the motives behind the proroguing of parliament. There is a rally for those who oppose the proroguing of parliament Saturday 23 January 2010, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Waterloo Public Square. This is one of many rallies across the country. See you there!

This is the web site of the Kitchener-Waterloo Anti-Torture Coalition, formed in December 2009. The web site has just been created - watch for more content in the very near future.
The goal of the coalition is to have a public inquiry into Canadian complicity in the torture of Afghan detainees by December 2010.
Canada is a signatory to the International Criminal Court 18 December 1998.
